Environment Matters

What can I do ?

  • Help to protect and restore natural habitats.

  • Pick up rubbish from the beach and other public places.  Plastic bags and other plastic debris are ingested by, or entangle, marine animals and birds.  The result is a slow, cruel death for many.

  • Have pets desexed and keep them indoors at night. Many of Australia's native animals are nocturnal and subject to predation by cats. Keep dogs enclosed, or on a leash when out for a walk, to prevent them attacking wallabies and koalas.

  • Plant the local, indigenous species in your garden to create a food source for native birds.

  • Drive slower at night time and keep an eye out for kangaroos and wallabies on the roadsides.
Putting a bell on cats can help to reduce their impact on native birds and animals
Help to protect and restore habitat - oldgrowth trees provide essential nesting hollows for many arboreal mammals and birds
