Hi everyone, we have had Facebook messages coming through saying that people are out collecting to buy supplies for FAWNA.

We are currently assessing our needs, supplies wise so if you would like to donate directly to us, please do from our website www.fawna.org.au please don’t donate to someone that is collecting for us or to buy supplies for us, we haven’t authorised anyone to do so on our behalf so the money that you think is going to a good cause is probably going into someones pocket or if they are buying supplies, they may not be what we need.

What we are looking at doing with some of our donations is to put together feed and water stations for the animals that survived in the burnt-out areas, so that they can stay in their areas as the bush regenerates.

Thanks again for all the donations, we will do an update later today or tomorrow about our situation, pending what the day brings to our area.

An update from the Hallidays Point and Wallaby Point / Old Bar area on the weekend,

Thanks to everyone who has donated to us, these are the animals that your donations are going towards helping.

These 2 little ones have been rescued but so far our rescuers have:

• relocated one Swamp Wallaby,
• taken four Swamp Wallabies into care
• euthanised two Brush-tailed Possums
• euthanised one Swamp Wallaby
• found two deceased Swamp Wallabies

We will continue to update when we can but, we ask if you can put out shallow and safe water dishes for wildlife and clean and replenish them regularly. Place rocks and/or ramps for safety to save any animal getting stuck or drowned is recommended.

We are preparing for what have been forecast to be horrendous weather conditions on the firegrounds tomorrow and Wednesday.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all those people who have donated to FAWNA overnight to help our work with the injured and harmed wildlife. We are preparing for what have been forecast to be horrendous weather conditions on the firegrounds tomorrow and Wednesday.

We have had $1545 in numerous donations come in over the last few days, and we are extremely grateful for all of your efforts, and these donations will go towards meeting our budget of $5000 to look after harmed wildlife and run some food drops in burned-out areas.

Again thank you, everyone, who has donated, and we will keep you updated on our situation.

You want to know what the sad thing is, that while we are trying to reach out to everyone we keep getting bombarded with requests from Facebook to pay to reach out to people in our area.

EDIT..

It’s just because people are seeing the post and sharing it, that their alogarithms then start pestering administrators to boost the post by paying to get a bigger reach. We have better things to do. It wasn’t a request for money just an administrator with better things to do than get the phone going off every 5 minutes.
